I work for an online chocolate website. Does anyone know how to increase traffic to the site?

I’m trying to increase traffic to my website but to not much avail. Right now is the slow season and I’m worried I won’t be making many chocolate sales. Does anyone have any suggestions on some strategies I may use to help create awareness for my site?

People love to look at flyers posted on boards at stores and such. I know, because i always stop to see if there is anything good…lol. Try makeing some flyers to put up or maybe even business cards to pass out. You can usually get about 50 business cards made for 20 bucks. Also, try putting an add in the newspaper. Hope this helps!

tiny free samples with your web info listed… drop them off at office buildings.
also try small specialty gift stores to see if they will carry your line.
maybe partner with a larger site? and add descriptions onto it so more search engines pick it up.
seems to me you are about to head into your busy season with Easter coming!

Get your site listed on as many websites as possible. The search engines consider every link to your site a vote for it. Here is a cheap link -

pay per click advertising if done properly brings in a lot of traffic that is looking for what you got. They cost a dime each (or more if you are willing) at both google adsense and yahoo overture.
I get about 500-600 hits for people that clicked on a google ad or overture ad for $50-$60 a month. I don’t sell small items so I cant measure the effectiveness that you will be able to. They have tools to track how many conversions and sales per click. Then you can spend time perfecting the ads. You will eventually know how much you can pay for someone to visit and still make a decent profit.
The key is to only get people to click on the ad that are likely to buy chocolates. Don’t try and come up with ads that “trick” people into clicking. You are simply paying for more clicks per sale if you do that. 100 well targeted customers are much more valuable than 1200 poorly targeted ones and at 8% of the cost.
Come up with a good selling basket or package and advertise it right in the ad. Something like “Popular Chocolate Gift Basket for your Love $32+shipping”. Then you will only get people willing to buy a basket for $32 to click and the ones looking for something else wont waste your per click payment.
Good luck

I wanted to see your chocolate website and you did not advertise your site for free here. I don’t know how many people actually saw your question but of that people there is a 50% chance they visit your site and a 50% they don’t.
But if you don’t tell us nobody is going to visit your site.
I can help you increase traffic to your site for a very reasonable price.

Send out an email promotion to your customer list. In the email, offer a discount, or free sample to people who refer friends to your site.
